Trailer Bridge Awarded Multi-Million Dollar USTRANSCOM PORTS Contract

[JACKSONVILLE, FL] May 20, 2024 – Trailer Bridge, Inc., a full-service transportation provider headquartered in Jacksonville, Florida, today announced United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) has awarded the company the Port Operations and Related Transportation Services (PORTS) Contract to provide commercial port operations and transportation services in locations outside the continental U.S. (OCONUS).

Trailer Bridge is one of 29 global businesses included in the multi-award contract with only 12 of the recipients based in the U.S. The $710 million-dollar indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract covers seaports located in six designated regions: U.S. Africa Command, U.S. Central Command, U.S. European Command, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Southern Command, and U.S. Northern Command OCONUS, and U.S. territories.

“This is the first time in our company’s history we have been included in a USTRANSCOM stevedoring contract  which I see as the result of our continued strategic focus on serving our country’s military needs,” said Trailer Bridge CEO Mitch Luciano.

The company’s Government Division is led by Vice President of Government and Projects Chris Goss who has more than 20-years of experience managing the shipment of commercial and military freight. Under his leadership the team has grown its support of the government’s global shipping needs including the ongoing support of the Universal Services Contract-9 (USC9).

“This award is a testament to Trailer Bridge’s commitment to be a trusted partner to our U.S. military and its allies,” said Goss. “We will leverage our trusted global partners to deliver reliable and innovative logistics solutions to all corners of the world.”

The contracting flexibility of PORTS will make it easier for USTRANSCOM and the U.S. Military to exercise and operate in global port locations where they may not have in previous years.

Trailer Bridge was founded in 1991 by industry pioneer Malcom McLean to serve the Puerto Rican trade lane with consistent, weekly barge service. The company has since expanded its service offerings to include domestic transportation solutions throughout North America and international shipping and freight forwarding through its sister company, Trailer Bridge International.
