Longtime resident and former General Manager for Trailer Bridge in Puerto Rico chosen to lead award-winning company’s Caribbean operations
[JACKSONVILLE, FL – May 21, 2020] – The Trailer Bridge team is proud to announce the promotion of Puerto Rico native and logistics industry veteran Jacob Wegrzyn to Vice President Caribbean. Formerly the General Manager and Director of Government Affairs for Trailer Bridge in Puerto Rico, Wegrzyn brings a wealth of experience and a passion for the island and its people to the position.
Wegrzyn has been with Trailer Bridge since 2012, helping to facilitate the transportation solutions that deliver essential goods to Puerto Rican people. Born in Poland, he relocated to Puerto Rico in 1969 with his parents, both professors at the University of Mayaguez. His transportation career took off at New Penn Motor Express, a northeast regional trucking company specializing in LTL cargo, after Wegrzyn earned his degree in Psychology and Biology from Yale University.
Serving Needs and Creating Jobs in Puerto Rico Among Wegrzyn’s Priorities
Mitch Luciano, CEO of Trailer Bridge, says that Wegrzyn’s love of the island of Puerto Rico and its people is unmatched, and the promotion well-deserved.
“Jacob is genuine. He is a respected and thoughtful leader who intimately understands the many factors that play into the supply chain but more importantly, he cares deeply about the impact that our work at Trailer Bridge has on each and every family on the island,” Luciano said, adding, “We have proudly served Puerto Rico for nearly 30 years and look forward to continuing that tradition with Jacob at the helm.”
“Seeing the goods we have brought to Puerto Rico in supermarkets, hardware and department stores, car dealers, and manufacturing plants makes me extremely proud. That we are able to supply such a wide range of goods that create jobs and provide necessary items to the people of PR makes me feel very fortunate,” Wegrzyn said.
Prior to joining Trailer Bridge, Wegrzyn served as Senior Vice President and General Manager at Horizon Lines for the Puerto Rico operation. He and his wife Mildred have two children and continue to reside in Puerto Rico.

The winner of the most recent Quest for Quality award for best-in-class ocean carrier, Trailer Bridge has also been recognized as a “Best Workplace for 2020” by Inc. Magazine.
